Refrigerated trailers carry freight at low or freezing temperatures. These containers are outfitted with refrigeration systems capable of maintaining specified temperatures. Also called reefer carriers, they provide many benefits.
Refrigerated carriers safeguard against spoilage of perishable beverages and foodstuffs when en route from a production facility to points of sale. They also keep heat-sensitive electronics, metallic parts, consumer products, and even fine art cooler than the ambient environment, safeguarding them from depreciation.

Refrigerated freight, or reefer freight, is a way to transport products that require temperature-controlled storage. The container has a built-in refrigeration system to keep products in their pre-shipped state.
Reefer trucks are composed of four major components: The compressor, condenser, insulation, and temperature controls. The compressor acts on the system’s refrigerant gas, compressing it close together and sending it on to the condenser. The condenser converts the concentrated refrigerant gas into a liquid. It’s up to the insulated panels to be watertight, keeping cool air from escaping. The temperature is set using the control panel. Alarms will show on the screen if the system detects a problem.
Refrigerator trucks are cooled by ice, mechanical refrigeration systems powered by diesel or electric engines, or carbon dioxide. It’s used in dry ice or liquid forms as a cooling agent.
